Alma is a small community rich in German heritage.  Alma is part of the Scenic Mill Creek Drive and Native Stone Scenic Byway, both beautiful drives in Kansas, providing a panoramic view of both Mill Creek and the endless rolling Flint Hills country.

Situated in the scenic Flint Hills and near Interstate 70, Alma is a stable community.  The scenery around Alma is rolling hills of bluestem and fertile farm ground along the creeks.  Mill Creek winds through the area providing excellent fishing and canoeing along with the nearby City Reservoir and six Federal Reservoirs within a 50 mile radius.  The rural area abounds with excellent quail, prairie chicken and deer.

Alma is a family-oriented community, proud of its educational facilities with an elementary school, parochial school, a unified high school.  Five churches serve the needs of our citizens.

Scouting, 4-H, school and church groups are all popular activities.  Civic organizations include the Alma Chamber of Commerce, Mill Creek Valley Jaycees and Alma Area Foundation.

Recreational and cultural activities are available for all ages. These facilities include a city parks and recreation program, swimming pool, sports and ball field complex, tennis courts, City Park, Railroad Park, rodeo arena, fairgrounds, public library and a community center.

Come for a visit and you’ll find yourself coming back time and time again!
